“We, the brothers of Kappa Kappa Psi, believe that service to the college or university band program fosters responsibility, loyalty, and leadership; that a spirit of brotherhood is enhanced by the participation in a band program; that music is a universal language and truly the greatest of the arts; and that through fraternal participation, each member will strive for the highest.”

Kappa Kappa Psi Fraternal Creed

From the President:

Hello, and welcome to the website of the University of Texas at Austin’s Alpha Tau chapter of Kappa Kappa Psi!

As a service fraternity to the Showband of the Southwest, the Longhorn Band, we are incredibly eager to resume our mission to give back to the band in preparation for this upcoming football season.

After a great spring semester full of service and a much needed summer break, we look forward to the many exciting opportunities during the fall. This includes meeting other Kappa Kappa Psi chapters, our annual Red River Rivalry, Family Weekend, and performing with the Longhorn Alumni Band for Alumni Weekend. We are also excited to expand our fraternity and expose new members of the band to the work and service we have proudly displayed throughout a large portion of the Longhorn Band’s history.

To show our chapter’s commitment to inclusivity and upholding fraternity values, the Alpha Tau chapter became a co-ed organization in 2018, and I am incredibly honored to serve as Alpha Tau’s first female president. I hope to further foster an accepting environment so that brothers from all walks of life can feel recognized and safe within Kappa Kappa Psi.

Alpha Tau promises to finish out 2023 with an emphasis on brotherhood, leadership, service, musicianship, inclusion, and acceptance. We will continue our hard work so that actives alumni of all identities are proud to be associated with the fraternity.
